Our Promise To You

My Environmental Promise: I use Forest Stewardship Council certified woods or woods salvaged from downed trees. All boards are glassed with epoxy resin which is cleaner for our environment and emits 50-75% less Volatile Organic Compounds than polyester resin. In my shop I have moderate ventilation and no need for a mask when glassing. Epoxy is lighter and stronger than polyester. My wood boards are nearly indestructible and should last a lifetime. Each board is quality crafted for strength, durability and concern for our environment.

My Satisfaction Promise: Ride your board for 30 days. If you don't like it, return it.

We make fins also

This is a 10.5" Hattchet fin. It is the fin of choice for Tom and I on our Nose Rider longboards especially with our short ride beach breaks. Good bite and good holding power, also makes for easy bottom turning. This one is made from Austrailan Lacewood.  Price: $125

BD T-Shirts Legends in Wood.

Just finished this shirt. 100% unbleached Cotton, meaning it is not stark white but a very light tan. We chose this type of fabric because it, in our humble mind, is slightly "woody" color and was made with concern for our environment. Waikiki Diamond Head was and is the starting point for many legendary surfers and we though this would be an appropriate way to pay homage to those who came before us.

Short sleeved version is $15 with shipping and packing $19.60. Long Sleeve is $17 same shipping and handling. You can do PayPal, Check or even Cash. Email us at: BlindDogSurfboards@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Single Fins Still A Hoot To Drive With

Single Fins: Good, Bad, Who Cares?

Tom and I like single fins. To us they bite when needed and release speed when hauling down a shore break line. Here is an interview with Rob Machado and his opinion/observations about single fins and what they offer.

Sunset Beach Clean Up - September 28, 2013

Tom Allen, Brad Hughes, and Dan Johnston arrived early Saturday morning to head down to Tubbs Inlet, channel side. Been bugging us that Summer boaters dump their garbage out that end. I mean like they brought it there, then take it home. What a mess. One wheel barrow loaded that Tom pushed, armload of lawn chairs and other metal objects carried by Brad and Dan got a full Home Depot trash bag of cans/bottles for recycling. Place looks much nicer now and if we get a good storm at lease none of that trash will blow around and into Tubbs channel.

8' 8" Woody

Just finished this board. It has a concave nose, turning into slight V at tail. Rail foil is 40/60 nose tapering to 50/50 pinched middle, tapering into down turn as it nears the rail. This board is all Western Cedar, with shell inlay and through the fin box leash holder. The vent is a Gore Tex for zero maintenance. This board weights 16.5 pounds. Price is: $1150

RV Surfboard rack (for sale)

Recently changed RV's and the new one can not be fitted with this kind of rack.  Can not be shipped, pick up in Calabash, NC.  $110.

Last thing I wanted to do was drill holes in the roof. Bad enough to keep it water tight, 16 more holes for roof mounted rack was just not what I wanted to do. This cargo box rack is for two boards. It is lockable and should be rather hard to break into. Even though its wood, it is heavy duty exterior ply and a huge lock.

I used pipe insulation foam tubes for padding and the box has reinforcements where the hinge area is located. To keep the box small, I used a short board fin to lock it in place.

Two Woody's Get Married

Rick just added one of our boards to his wood pile. Well rather nice wood pile. His '29 Ford Woody is now complete. Nice touch: "Remove Before Flight".  This board is our 9'10" Longboard and perfect home for it.
