Our Promise To You

My Environmental Promise: I use Forest Stewardship Council certified woods or woods salvaged from downed trees. All boards are glassed with epoxy resin which is cleaner for our environment and emits 50-75% less Volatile Organic Compounds than polyester resin. In my shop I have moderate ventilation and no need for a mask when glassing. Epoxy is lighter and stronger than polyester. My wood boards are nearly indestructible and should last a lifetime. Each board is quality crafted for strength, durability and concern for our environment.

My Satisfaction Promise: Ride your board for 30 days. If you don't like it, return it.

Chris Crocker Surf Fest July 14-15

Some of you make have known Chris, many of you did not. He was a great father to his children Brittney and Jake  and to wife Amy, good friend to surfers he knew and did not know. If anyone needed help, he was there and usually with Jake in tow. Chris died unexpectedly last November and folks from Eastern Surf Association (our East Coast organization that handles major surf events out here) is putting together an event in Chris honor.   http://www.esa-snc.com/

Here is what regional ESA director Amy Rose wrote:

Hi SNC,

I told ya!!!  We didn’t want to go from now until August without a contest!  J  The dates came open and now we are hosting a hopefully annual event. July 14th and 15th we’re having the Chris Crocker Memorial Event! Chris was such a big part of SNC and we want to honor his memory with this contest. It’s NOT and ESA event however. There will be NO points given. It’s just a fun event with lot’s of good things in store. Rumor has it that there may be some awesome sponsors with lot’s of prizes! There WILL be an air show! Make your plans to enter. I know …..your next question is how do we enter? Well…..I’ve had a crazy week (took a really hard 6 hour exam today)…so I’ve been a little swamped. It is my hope to get the entries and info with announcements done by Monday night at the latest. I can tell you that we will do shortboard divisions. They will not be standard ESA ages however. We are having a two day event and we have a lot of special divisions that we want to do. There will be in addition to the air show division, a noseriding division, (rules will be given later), and a vintage longboard division. We are also having a Pro Longboard division.  There’s going to be a novice division as well. So bring the neighbors who have never surfed a contest before. This is the time to surf against others who have never competed before! As I said, I hope to have all the info done by Monday. For now, just start planning to come!

We donated one of our boards to this event.  ESA - Southern Region and Ocean Isle Beach Surf and Java http://oibsurfandjava.com/ are handling local raffle tickets.

Tickets are:
1 for $5.00
3 for $10.00
8 for $20.00

OIB Surf and Java has the board and raffle tickets.  Also at the event, folks can purchase tickets.

IF YOU WANT, you can use our PayPal account to buy tickets ( danandyo@yahoo.com )  Yo is my wife Adrienne. Give us your mailing address and we will return one side of the raffle ticket(s) to you and the others will go into the drawing.

Shipping: Jessie (OIB Surf and Java) will help ship at best rate he can get.  So don't be timid about not getting this Fish.

This 7'6" x 22.5"x 3.5" is Spruce and Cedar and weights 11 pounds. Fins are Walnut w/o halo glassing. We use epoxy and 4 oz glass. Nose and tail blocks are Cedar and Walnut.

Surf Contest June 16, Ocean Isle Beach

I wasn't going to enter this event, I had knee operation 12 days earlier to repair a Mensicus tear. Doctor said I was good to go, but still didn't want to put much strain on it. So I went just to surf few waves with Tom and watch local kids have fun. Waves were really small, side/offshore wind and high tide, and swell coming wrong direction. Also, all contests leave us longboarders to end of day. This time, since there were fewer than normal contestants, they ran our heat at 9:15...cool. This was my second time riding my new Evo Nose Rider woody. Tom road his Nose Rider foam.

Along with Tom was Jake Crocker and two other kids. So Tom with his usual bag of tricks, he pulled off couple of head stands and spinners. Tom took first, Jake took second and was pulling off some good turns and nose rides, and I took third, which was just fine.

Keiki hits the wall

Keiki (kids board) found a nice place to call home.  Brad (fellow surfer) here at Sunset Beach, NC did a great job hanging it. Sweet dreams Brad and Rosie. Made from Spruce, Black Walnut and some sweet red colored wood I've no clue what it is.
